Welcome to my home on the road. I live in this truck, this is my life in the American trucking industry. The lifestyle, the politics, the frustrations. It's all here and up to the minute. I'm the only one in the truck, so my perspective is all there is. Sorry about that. I'll talk about what's happening, where I'm at, what I'm seeing and my impressions.
This video with sound stream is 100% live all the time.
The view is from the top of the passenger seat of my semi truck, an 18 wheeler.
This Orbit cam will track moving objects.
This truck is a 2002 International with about 690,000 miles on it.
THE SET UP
The aircard is a Sierra AC580.
The router is a D-Link DIR-450.
This truck is a free mobile internet WiFi Hot Spot.
No authentication, data encryption disabled a free access point.
It's possible to be driving within WiFi range of me and have internet!
This link explains how I'm getting mobile internet.
The quality of the video depends upon the area I'm at; some places have faster internet than others. There are dead spots, and areas where the connection speed is slow causing jerky video and loss of sound on your end. Generally, if I'm in a densely populated area, the video will be good. I have a computer in the truck, running the camstreams encoder. The computer is connected wirelessly to the router which bridges data to cellular.
I'm an over the road freight hauler, I was leased with Landstar, but now I have my own authority. I pull a 53 foot dry van. A big truck, tractor trailer rig that weighs in at about 40 tons when fully loaded and don't run a regular route. I have no routine. I live in this truck and travel anywhere in the United States all the time. I'm basically a solar driver; I prefer driving during the day and park somewhere dark and quiet at night. However I'll park in a truck stop at night so you can see what's happening.
I play my stereo all the time, so you're listening to XM Radio.
During the day the CB Radio is on.
This is 100% real all the time.Real life of this American trucker.
